Steampunk has been around for years. Many of us only think of anime movies or maybe cosplay acts at conventions but there is an entire Steampunk sub-culture that has spawned books, Internet shows, festivals, and more. There are even Steampunk conventions. And there are also Steampunk blogs.
The Art of Steampunk published this interview with the Absinthe Minded Professors in May 2011. It is such a cool interview it’s worth republishing here, so I hope you my happy readers enjoy this article.
If you want to learn more about Steampunk, think of advanced technology built into late 1800s-style hardware. So you might have lighter-than-air ships sailing the skies and shooting laser beams. The old Wild, Wild West TV show (and the movie it inspired) was sort of steampunky. Another TV show, The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne, was also steampunky.
So now you get the idea. Even the “John Carter” movie sort of qualifies as Steampunk (even though the original story it was based on was written 100 years ago).
