I was checking out my favorite Superhero movies forum at SF-Fandom and thought about all the videos they post there with trailers from upcoming movies. But they don’t post a lot of pictures. You can find a few blogs that share superhero cosplay pictures but it’s not easy to find a really good single place for that kind of fun stuff.
Communizine wrote about the five best female superhero costumes earlier this year. Why didn’t they write about the 10 best costumes? And what about guy superheros?
Xenite.Org wrote about fantasy movie princesses too but they never put up anything about the buff princes in all these movies.
Does this mean scifi fandom is still mostly a male fantasy playground? So who are all those hot babes running around in skimpy costumes at conventions? If these girls are into costuming aren’t they in to scifi as well?
This might explain why John Carter of Mars bombed so badly at the box office. It doesn’t have enough PZING! to appeal to all the ladies and it doesn’t have enough skimpy costumes to appeal to all the guys.
Everyone is probably going to see the “Avengers” movie because it has buff guys (Thor, Hawkeye, Captain America) and a hot babe (the Black Widow) running around in tights. So if Xenite can do a Scarlett Johansson picture gallery why not a Chris Hemsworth picture gallery?
It’s because “The Avengers” is really just a comic book fanboy movie. The ladies aren’t into all that stuff. They like to dress in anime costumes (like here) and watch anime movies. The college girl fan is more about the costume and the college boy fan is more about what’s IN the costume.
You’re all thinking it. I’m just saying it.
